How to Switch Amazon Agencies Without Losing Your Account

Leaving your Amazon agency? A step-by-step checklist to keep your account, listings, ad data and creative safe during the handoff.

“Our last agency didn’t work out” is the most common thing we hear on first calls. The second most common is being nervous about leaving: what if we lose the account, the ad history, the images?

Most of that risk is avoidable with a little preparation.

Before you give notice

  1. Read your contract. Notice period, exit fees, and especially who owns what: the seller account, ad accounts, listings, photography, A+ Content, and any reporting you’ve paid for.
  2. Confirm you own the accounts. Your Seller Central account, Brand Registry and advertising account should be in your company’s name, with you as primary owner. If the agency is the account owner on anything, fix that first.
  3. Audit user access. In Seller Central, list every user and what permissions they hold. Do the same in the advertising console.
  4. Export your data. Business reports, advertising reports with as much history as you can pull, and search term reports. Ad history is valuable and easy to lose.
  5. Collect your creative. Original image files, A+ Content source files, brand store assets, copy documents.

During the handoff

  • Overlap if you can. A week or two of overlap between agencies prevents gaps in case work and ad management.
  • Don’t let campaigns go dark. Pausing everything to start fresh throws away ranking and data. The new agency should audit and restructure, not wipe.
  • Keep inventory moving. Transitions often coincide with missed shipments. Assign someone to inventory for those weeks.
  • Remove old access on the day the relationship ends, not a month later.

Choosing the next agency

The reasons agencies don’t work out are usually the same few: incentives tied to spend, rotating account managers, long lock-ins, and reporting you can’t verify. Pick for the opposite. See questions to ask an Amazon agency before you sign and flat fee vs. ad spend vs. revenue share.

How we set up new accounts

  • Access is granted through your own accounts, never ours, with only the permissions the work needs.
  • We never need your actual account credentials.
  • Everything we build stays in your name: accounts, listings, creative and documentation.
  • No setup fee, no monthly retainer, no exit fee.

We set it up that way so leaving us is as easy as leaving your last agency should have been.

Frequently asked questions

Can my agency keep my Amazon listings if I leave?

Listings live on Amazon’s catalog tied to your brand. Creative files and account access depend on your contract, so check ownership terms.

Will switching agencies hurt my Amazon rankings?

Not if campaigns and inventory keep running during the transition.

How long does an agency transition take?

Typically a few weeks for access, data and creative handoff.
