They were growing by adding products. We grew the ones they already had.

OnPoint Wares had a large catalog and one strategy for growth on Amazon: list more. We were brought in for a test run on two things only — search and advertising — with the ad budget held flat.

Figures sourced from the old case report, not from the account P&L. That page carried three conflicting growth claims — "220%+ average monthly increase," "almost a triple-digit increase," and the dollar figures below, which work out to 64%. Only the dollar figures are arithmetic, so those are what this page uses and the other two are dropped. If the real number is higher, pull the account P&L the way we did for Kemp and this page gets rewritten with it. The client quote has been removed. It read “You made me believe in PPC again” — the identical sentence the SILCA, Kitty Poo Club and Ultrahuman reports each attribute to a different person, so it cannot be attributed here either. A real quote from this client replaces it at sign-off.

Where they started

A big catalog and no way to grow it

OnPoint Wares is a California business with a deep catalog centered on flags and banners for commercial buyers. The products were fine. The growth plan was to keep adding more of them.

That works until it doesn't. Sales were growing, but inconsistently, and nobody could say which listings were carrying the account or why a good month was good. What they wanted was growth that didn't require spending their way into it — which meant the answer had to come from the listings themselves, not the ad account.

What we did

Search first, then advertising — on the same budget

  • Keyword and phrase research across the catalog, plus a read of past ad data for conversion and click-through by campaign.
  • Back-end attributes and copy rebuilt first, then the front-end copy, so organic rank had something to climb on.
  • Full-funnel PPC launched in March, several months after the search work — not alongside it.
  • The ad budget never went up. Data decided where the existing spend went. Margin was the constraint we worked inside.

The order was the point. Bids were only raised after the pages could convert the traffic they'd bring in. Raising them first would have produced a bigger ad bill and roughly the same revenue.

What changed

Monthly revenue went from $47,158 to $77,230, on the same ad budget

Measured against their 2022 monthly average, revenue over March through August 2023 ran at $77,230 a month — up 64%. On an annualized basis that moves the account from roughly $566K to roughly $927K.

The ad budget didn't change. Not once. The additional revenue came out of listings that were already there and spend that was already being made, redirected by what the data said was working. That's the part of this engagement worth paying attention to, and it's the part the original write-up buried.

What we'd flag: this was scoped as a test run on two things, search and advertising. We didn't touch pricing enforcement, catalog structure, or A+ content, so the result says nothing about those. And a six-month window against a full prior year is a shorter read than we'd normally publish — it's the window the original engagement was measured on.

Why it matters if you're reading this

More listings is not a growth strategy

Adding products is the most common answer to a flat Amazon channel, and it's usually the most expensive one. It adds inventory, photography, and complexity, and it does nothing for the listings already sitting there converting below what they could.

If your catalog is large and your growth is inconsistent, the problem is more likely to be that nobody can find the products you already have.
